A Thousand Years

So you lost someone you loved.
To time, to crime, to science,  to space.
You should know that this was not the first time you loved them.
You have loved them multiple times before.
This was not the first time you both stumbled through circumstances to meet each other again.
And you both felt it faster, each time through.
And all it took was two sets of two pairs of eyes
meeting through the layers of lost lifetimes and stolen glances
and hands held among expressions of love.
and the unrelenting tide of waiting,
to set your world on fire once again, brighter than before.

So you lost someone you loved in this lifetime.

In some other lifetime, it ends differently.

In some other lifetime, it does not end.

Not here to stay

The crimson flower offered its shoulder
while you, the butterfly pass by
You knew you're not here to stay
Yet its color catches your eye.

The thorn warned the flower,'Psst,'Do not attach,
For a butterfly cannot mend its ways
A momentary presence is all you will get
before the butterfly takes flight away.

The flower blushes on, in denial,
With its every petal, and ignorant chaste
The butterfly, enraptured and tantalized
feeds on the flowers sweet taste

It hovers around longer than usual
making the flower convinced indeed
For what the butterfly itself lacked,
the flower knew: It fills complete

And thus the flower bloomed,
but for whom?
You are not here to stay.
'For that #!%$ transient butterfly!!',
the thorn fumed
But why?
You are not here to stay

Then soon of course, comes a time
When true to its nature
the butterfly ups and leaves
in search of other flowers;

to hover,

to attach,

to feed.

And yet
The flower bloomed,
but for whom?
You were not here to stay,
Regardless of a predicament that is doomed
Even when you are not here to stay.

Cant keep you in

Love is a smoke made with the fume of sighs. Being purged, a fire sparkling in lovers eyes. Being vexed, a sea nourished with lovers tears. What is it else? A madness most discreet, a choking gall and a preserving sweet. -- William Shakespeare

Written for a dear friend

I breathe you in
a whiff of life
Feel you diffuse
and fill my mind

Induced rush of blood
Renewed surge through my head
Your whiff soaks through my heart
As life imparted  to the dead

Head thrown back
I gently close my eyes
Let it work its magic
As you save my life

Locking and unblocking
Throughout length and breadth
Teasing and releasing
Spanning width and depth

Sinking deeper in,
It’s hypnotism grows
Exhilarating every cell of my being
 I seek you more
Alas, deceptive air,
Your ringing elation
Metamophoses to throbbing
Pricking, a  stinging sensation

Second by second,
In pieces and bits,
It corrodes and devours
Your toxicity hits

Sudden panicked heartbeat
It begins  to clog the mind
Constricted breathing
Its viscosity slowly blinds

air to mist,
Mist to smoke
Smoke to poison
Poison to choke
What filled and thrilled
Suddenly burned and blocked
Sucking life and blood
and osmotic shock

Once exhilarated smile vanishes
As life slowly drains
Once a face of serenity
Now contorted in pain

Hands; struggling and spilling
Eyes blurry: under the shadow of death
Self preservation kicks in
I cease to  hold my breath

Tears running down my cheeks,
Body struggling about,
Gasping for a breather

I choke you out
