RUSH.

Sometimes, when we are not noticing, life tiptoes up from behind us and sweeps us off our feet in the most unexpected way and before we know it, we find ourselves flying. Only to realize that the lead up to our lives upto that moment was with the sole purpose to experience that one moment.

There was no clumsiness or hesitation. No rushed moves. No spastic touch. Both lying on thier backs, facing the starry lit sky, they were occasionally making shapes out of them scattered silvery dots. Her love for the moon dated back to her childhood years and as always, its imperfect perfection mesmerized her as she intently gazed upon it.
But unlike every other night, the dark black sky had more than the usual stars against the big black blanket of space. As if they had shown up specially, to witness what was about to follow. Taking the visual beauty before her in,her eyes were partially closed, at peace, not thinking about anything in particular. As she took a slow deep breath, she felt his face close to her's.  Something in the subconscious of her mind stirred. The flash of blur was too subtle for her to realize what was about to happen. But seconds away from thier noses touching, adrenaline kicked in and suddenly all the blood in her brain went for a bit of a holiday into her cheeks. Hence she had a very very red face, and a completely empty brain to understand what was happening. Fanbloodytastic.

'He is your friend!',she protested her brain, to stop being dumb and MOVE the fuck away, a thought that was simultaneously abandoned as he took her in his arms, which was just as well as she suddenly lost senses of her own self.In his arms,as seconds passed to minutes (she could have gone on being just like that for years ),the partial embrace evolved into a more real, vulnerable and an open one.Soothing the nerves.Displacing all the darkness in her head. How far the stars felt then.

Looking back, months later, she couldn't remember a single awesome thing it WASN'T, but only everything that it WAS.

It was, when chance meets  magic in a slo-mo fantasy movie. THAT was how it was. That tingly feeling of  Eebie-Geebies all over, right from the tip of her nose to the edge of her toes. When that kiss happened, it was like she was in this bubble of bright light where nothing else mattered, dint even cross her mind.. As if everyone else had disappeared. Like they were alone in thier own world with just a dull roar of the surroundings around them.In a world where they completed each others sentences and moves without even realizing it.As if perfectly choreographed, it was just like those scenes straight out of movies or stories in romance novels that take you by surprise, both by their timing and totally unrealistic perfection (and two absolutely awesome people).

Except that this one was actually happening. For real.
Live.

That night, questions did creep up in her head. Understandable yet Annoying questions that threatened to ruin her perfect memories..and defy his lingering presence that she still felt. After all,she wasn't the kind of person that is into Public Displays of Affection. OR someone who falls for someone too soon. Hell, she had hardly ever fallen. Then what the fuck was this straight out-of-a-fairytale tingly-all-over feeling? And all this for someone  she had always seen within the friend zone and nothing more?
Could it be, that while he had been around ALL this time, she was the one who never noticed ? So what now? Did this mean No-Strings-Attached or All-Strings-Detached from here-on? The confusion over her feelings did not help.

And even though later, it was evident that he was further along the snog continuum than she was, looking for more than just some high-energy mouth-love, she had to coax herself to stop him.She needed to regain some normal perspective. Not to mention, blood back in her brains and air back in her lungs. So stepping back took all her will, both physical and mental. Anything more would probably have been taking it too far. Anything too less would have been a criminal offence against herself. The lines between friendship and love may have blurred a tad little on that starry night, but after having been-there-been-smitten-by-that,she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Either way, that whirlwind of a day had been burned into her memory forever.

' Do you trust me?", he asked later.. and she replied with a smirk "Nope, Not at all".. "Even better" he smiled wryly. It is said, never let a fool kiss you, or a kiss fool you and its relevance of who the fool was here, in this context, would only be revealed along the due course of time. But life chose the path where she would never see him again, every kiss from then on would be compared to his....

But for now, her bucket list #12;  To witness fireworks in the most unexpected and unconventional way.

When it comes, will it come without warning
Just as I'm picking my nose?
Will it knock on my door in the morning,
Or tread in the bus on my toes?
Will it come like a change in the weather?
Will its greeting be courteous or rough?
Will it alter my life altogether?
O tell me the truth about love.
